The AfricaNenda Foundation has opened applications for its Program Support Intern role, a six-month paid remote internship set to begin in May 2026.
The internship is part of the organisation’s wider effort to strengthen research, project management, and advocacy work as it expands support for inclusive instant payment systems across Africa.
AfricaNenda Foundation is an African-led institution focused on helping countries build instant payment systems that improve access to digital financial services. The organisation works with governments, regulators, financial institutions, and private sector partners to support safer and more accessible digital payments, especially for underserved communities.
Its long-term goal is to help achieve universal access to financial services across Africa by 2030 through interoperable and scalable payment infrastructure.
The foundation also supports broader continental digital trade and financial integration efforts linked to the African Continental Free Trade Area and the African Union’s Digital Transformation Strategy.
According to the organisation, the internship will give selected candidates hands-on experience across several operational areas, including research, stakeholder engagement, project coordination, and advocacy support.
The role is fully remote and will run full-time for six months.
Successful applicants will help conduct research on digital financial services and inclusive payment systems, support the preparation of reports and presentations, and assist with event planning for both virtual and physical engagements.
The intern will also support project tracking, meeting documentation, reporting processes, and stakeholder database management.
AfricaNenda said the role is designed to expose young professionals to the fast-growing digital payments ecosystem while helping them build practical skills in project management, research, and policy support.
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in areas such as project management, business administration, international relations, social sciences, or related fields.
The organisation is looking for candidates with strong research, analytical, communication, and organisational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Knowledge of French or Portuguese will be considered an added advantage.
AfricaNenda also said candidates with an interest in financial inclusion, digital payment systems, and Africa’s digital economy are encouraged to apply.
As part of the application process, candidates must submit a CV outlining their relevant experience and provide details for three referees.
Applications should be sent to the organisation before the 29 May 2026 deadline. Only shortlisted applicants will be contacted.
The organisation also encouraged female candidates to apply as part of its diversity and inclusion efforts.
