MTN Fintech Partners Ant International to Expand Digital Inclusion

MTN Group Fintech Partners Ant International to Accelerate Digital Inclusion

MTN Group Fintech has entered into a strategic partnership with Ant International to accelerate the transformation of its mobile money ecosystem, marking a significant step toward expanding digital financial services across Africa.

The collaboration is expected to launch in Nigeria next quarter and will introduce a super-app platform designed to improve customer experience, deepen digital inclusion, and create a more integrated ecosystem for digital finance, commerce, and lifestyle services around MTN’s MoMo platform.

The partnership will leverage Ant International’s advanced payment and financial technology capabilities to enhance MoMo through stronger ecosystem integration, a mini-app platform, improved fraud prevention tools, and richer engagement features for both consumers and merchants.

According to MTN Group President and CEO, Ralph Mupita, the initiative aligns with the company’s broader vision of delivering digital solutions that support Africa’s economic development.

He said the partnership reflects MTN’s commitment to transforming customer experiences through a more seamless, secure, and intuitive mobile money platform that expands economic participation and financial inclusion across the continent.

Ant International President Douglas Feagin said the collaboration combines MTN’s market expertise with Ant International’s technology capabilities to help create a more inclusive, secure, and scalable digital financial services environment for businesses and consumers.

MTN Group Fintech CEO Serigne Dioum described the partnership as a major milestone in the company’s “One Big Tech” strategy, aimed at shaping the future of digital finance across Africa.

Enhanced MoMo Experience for Nigerian Users

The transformation is expected to significantly improve the MoMo experience in Nigeria by enabling faster transactions, greater reliability, and deeper integration across financial and commerce services.

Customers will gain access to a more responsive and intuitive platform that supports payments, savings, and a range of value-added services within a unified digital environment.

The super-app approach is also expected to create new opportunities for merchants and developers by supporting mini-app integrations that expand the range of services available within the MoMo ecosystem.

Advancing Financial Inclusion Across Africa

The partnership reinforces MTN Group Fintech’s commitment to promoting financial inclusion and economic empowerment across Sub-Saharan Africa, a region recognized by the GSMA as the world’s most active mobile money market.

By combining mobile connectivity, digital payments, and advanced financial technologies, MTN aims to strengthen access to secure and affordable financial services for millions of individuals and businesses that remain underserved by traditional banking systems.

The initiative further positions MTN Group Fintech as a key player in Africa’s evolving digital finance landscape, supporting broader efforts to drive economic growth, innovation, and inclusive participation in the digital economy.

As mobile money adoption continues to grow across the continent, the MTN Fintech Ant International partnership is expected to play an important role in shaping the next generation of digital financial services in Africa.
