2026 TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme for Young Scientists From Developing Countries (Fully Funded)
Applications are now open for the 2026 TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme. The fully funded programme supports young scientists from developing countries who want to pursue postdoctoral research at COMSATS University Islamabad.
The fellowship is offered in partnership with The World Academy of Sciences and provides researchers with opportunities to conduct advanced studies in natural sciences, applied sciences, and selected social science disciplines.
About the TWAS-CUI Fellowship Programme
The TWAS-CUI Postgraduate Fellowship Programme offers postdoctoral research placements at various departments and laboratories within COMSATS University Islamabad.
The programme lasts for six months. However, fellows may receive approval for a six-month extension. While the extension provides additional research time, it does not include extra financial support.
In addition, the programme aims to strengthen scientific capacity and international research collaboration among developing countries.
Fellowship Benefits
Selected fellows will receive:
- Monthly stipend from COMSATS University Islamabad
- Support for living expenses, accommodation, and health insurance
- Access to research facilities and laboratories
- Opportunity to conduct postdoctoral research in Pakistan
- International academic and research exposure
The programme uses English as the language of instruction.
Eligible Research Fields
Natural and Applied Sciences
Applicants can apply in the following fields:
- Computer Science
- Computer Engineering
- Mathematics
- Environmental Sciences
- Biotechnology
- Chemistry
- Pharmacy
- Interdisciplinary Research Centre in Biomedical Materials (IRCBM)
Social and Economic Sciences
Eligible social science fields include:
- Management Science
- Development Studies
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be citizens of a developing country other than Pakistan
- Not currently residing in Pakistan
- Not holding temporary or permanent residency in Pakistan or any developed country
- Hold a PhD degree in a relevant field
- Apply within five years of obtaining their PhD
- Be regularly employed in a developing country
- Hold an active research assignment in their home country
Furthermore, applicants in social science fields must possess a PhD in an eligible social science discipline.
Fellowship Duration
- Initial Duration: 6 months
- Possible Extension: Additional 6 months without extra funding
